The Multidisciplinary Studies Program is designed for students who wish to design a major that allows them to study across programs in the liberal arts and sciences. Highly motivated students with multiple areas of interest or specialized career or professional goals will find this combination of flexibility and focus very attractive. Academic advising is an important part of each student's academic program. Each student works with program faculty to create a plan of study. Students often complete field studies, internships, and independent research or creative projects as part of their programs. Students benefit from relatively small classes taught by award-winning faculty who have a diversity of specialties. Most hold doctoral degrees, and many edit journals, publish books and articles, conduct research, and speak at national and international meetings within their specializations. Careers The Multidisciplinary Studies Program is designed to meet the needs of students with different backgrounds and career goals. Each student works closely with an academic advisor to develop a plan that best meets the student's current and future goals. Many of our majors pursue graduate or professional study in medicine, humanities, law, or business. Our graduates enter the job market in a variety of directions. A few options include careers in the following areas: Professional Services Social Services Community Programming Cultural Studies Event Planning Publishing Entertainment
