Students may choose to concentrate in any two (or more) of the following teaching areas: Economics Geography Government History Psychology Sociology Students gain teaching skills through classroom and multiple field experiences in the Bayh College of Education and the College of Arts and Science—and through their required student teaching experience. Field experiences begin as early as the junior year, with student teaching traditionally occurring during the senior year. An important benefit is the program's flexibility, which allows students to complete studies in the disciplinary areas of their choice, while shared content courses and the interdisciplinary scope of the program enable students to obtain teaching licensure in four or more areas, if desired. Relatively small class sizes enable students to work one-on-one with highly talented and dedicated faculty members.
