The Master of Health Science (MHSc) program is an online post-baccalaureate degree offered through Saint Francis University. The MHSc program is designed for professionals in the healthcare setting who wish to pursue graduate education to achieve professional or personal goals. The MHSc degree from Saint Francis University prepares students to assume leadership roles in the healthcare industry such as department directors, healthcare service administrators, health educators, lab/clinic managers, or healthcare policy directors. Students may complete a MHSc generalist degree or select a specialty track within the curriculum to provide focused coursework in one of three areas: clinical, health education, or leadership. This 30-credit program is offered online via the Internet through the Blackboard learning management system. This program provides maximum flexibility for working health professionals to complete the program in approximately five semesters (18-24 months). Graduates of the program will have demonstrated competence in both scholarship and research and are prepared to deliver health care more effectively in a variety of clinical practice and administrative settings. Requirements for Degree Conferral Students will qualify for the MHSc degree after completion of the 30-credit program of study with a minimum quality point average (QPA) of 2.8. In addition, students must maintain a grade of "C" or better in each of their individual courses. All program requirements must be completed within five years of enrollment. Core Curriculum (21 credits common to all MHSc students): MHS 503 - Research Methodology MHS 505 - Ethical Issues in Practice MHS 509 - Communication for Health Care Professionals MHS 513 - Clinical Residency Project MHS 515 - Leadership MHS 518 - Strategies in Health Policy MHS 520 - Diversity in Healthcare Specialty Tracks (9 credits): The remaining 9 credits of the MHSc curriculum will be determined by the selection of specialty tracks, as follows: Clinical Specialty Track: MHS 516 - Special Topics: CAMs MHS 523 - Health Promotion Across the Lifespan MHS 524 - Introduction to Public Health Health Education Specialty Track: MHS 540 - Health Professionals as Educators MHS 541 - Designing Instruction for Health Programs MHS 542 - Curriculum Development for Health Programs Health Leadership Specialty Track: MHS 508 - Healthcare Systems Management MHS 530 - Quality and Performance for Health Leaders MHS 532 - Conflict Resolution for Health Leaders Generalist Track: Students may select any course from the specialty tracks or general electives list to fulfill the 9 credits of coursework.
