The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Studies is designed to provide a degree pathway for students interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree in a health-related field. This program incorporates a solid health studies core with a general education curriculum reflecting the Goals of Franciscan Higher Education. Completion of this degree will prepare students to pursue a graduate professional health care degree or enter the workforce. Students may choose from a Pre-Allied Health, Pre-Occupational Therapy, or Pre-Physician Assistant concentration. Depending on space availability and the ability to meet early entrance requirements for the Saint Francis University's Occupational Therapy or Physician Assistant Programs, students may be afforded the opportunity to apply into these programs during the second semester sophomore year. The Pre-Allied Health Concentration allows students the flexibility to take a variety of health care-focused courses and the opportunity to earn one or more academic minors in areas of their interest. Successful completion of this concentration prepares students for entry into the workforce or application to a variety of graduate schools. Students who plan to apply to graduate school are recommended to carefully review the graduate school admission GPA requirements to ensure that they meet the requirements for application. Major Requirements: BIOL 111 - Introduction to Biology: Molecules, Cells, and Animal Physiology BIOL 205 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I BIOL 206 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II MATH 110 - Pre-Calculus Mathematics or higher PA 200 - Medical Terminology PHIL 312 - Health Care Ethics PSYC 101 - Introduction to Psychology PUBH 101 - Introduction to Public Health PUBH 110 - Concepts of Health and Disease PUBH 202 - Introduction to Epidemiology SPCH 103 - Speech Fundamentals and Public Speaking STAT 205 - Essentials of Statistics Concentration Requirements: 24 credits consisting of any course required for the Pre-OT or Pre-PA concentrations, PSYC 200, or any course offered through the School of Health Sciences.
