A major and a minor in Spanish with an emphasis in literature or culture are offered through a comprehensive array of courses taken at Saint Francis University and its program at Cuernevaca, Mexico. St. Francis students also take advantage of many study abroad trips, including exotic locations like Mexico, Dominican Republic, Spain, and Costa Rica, where they are able to earn credits, get internships, immerse themselves in the culture, and have fun! The study of Spanish can also be incorporated into a program leading to elementary and secondary teaching certification. For teaching certification, consult the program requirements under Education. Other employment opportunities are provided upon request by the departmental advisors and the Office of Career Counseling and Placement. Requirements SPAN 202 - Intermediate Spanish II SPAN 301 - Spanish Composition and Grammar SPAN 312 - Latin American Cultural Studies SPAN 499 - Spanish Capstone LANG 103 - Language and Culture or Another foreign language of any level. Additional Requirements 15 additional credits in Spanish at the 300/400 level taken at an approved study abroad location: SPAN 481 - 489 - Special Topics for Study Abroad Note(s): Study abroad is required to complete these requirements.
