This Bachelor of Finance and Economics (Honours) programme is designed to equip students with in-depth understanding of economic behaviour and an extensive knowledge of the financial sector, drawing upon the many insights of modern theories in economics and finance. Graduates from this degree programme will ultimately acquire relevant insight and capabilities that enable them to hold positions of great responsibility in the economic and financial system, financial institutions, international organisations, supervisory authorities and central banks. Graduates will be provided with a solid foundation to pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme. All students will get an additional Bloomberg Certification (BMC) upon completion of Portfolio Management Module.

Prerequisites

  • SPM / O-Level with Pre-U / Foundation: Pass SPM / O-Level or equivalent with 5 credits (including credits in Mathematics and pass in English) for entry with pre-university/ foundation qualification (Except for UEC)
  • SPM / O-Level with Diploma: Pass SPM / O-Level or equivalent with 3 credits for entry with Diploma qualification.

Entry Pathway

  • Taylor's Foundation: Pass any Taylor's Foundation programme with a minimum CGPA of 2.50
  • Taylor's Diploma: Pass any Taylor's Diploma in Finance, Banking, Insurance or related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50
  • Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM): Min. Grade C+ (GPA 2.33) in any two subjects
  • Unified Examination Certificate (UEC): Min. 5Bs with a maximum of 26 points including Mathematics and a pass in English
  • A Levels: Min. DD or equivalent of min. 120 points
  • South Australian Matriculation (SAM)/ SACE International: Min. ATAR 60
  • Canadian Pre-University (CPU): Min. average of 55% in 6 subjects
  • International Baccalaureate (IB): Min. 26 points and above for 6 subjects
  • Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY): Overall 60%
  • Other Equivalent Qualifications: Business Foundation from other accredited institutions with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; Diploma in Finance, Banking, Insurance or a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; Other foundation, matriculation/high school certificates/ diploma (Year 12) from other accredited institution with minimum CGPA of 2.50. Application via APEL A is allowed.

  • Pre-U/Diploma: Completed Pre-U/Diploma that was conducted in English
