The PhD in Applied Cellular and Molecular Biology at the Universidad de La Frontera is the only one of its kind in the country and is recognised nationally and internationally for the prestige of its academics and the scientific productivity it has achieved.
It is accredited by the National Accreditation Commission (CNA), which not only gives it prestige in terms of quality, but also makes it eligible for various scholarships in the country, providing greater opportunities for its students.
The agreements it has established with national and foreign entities, for the development of joint theses, also allows its students to advance in the lines of work and carry out stays in other centres of excellence in the country and the world. A relevant aspect is the consolidation of the Double Degree Agreement with the University of Sao Paulo USP, Brazil, through which the students of this Programme can access the degree under this modality.
The PhD has an academic staff made up of national and foreign researchers, who permanently open new lines of research in their areas. Several of the PhD academics are attached to the Scientific-Technological Nucleus in Bioresources (BIOREN-UFRO, bioren.ufro.cl), an entity that brings together the most productive Research Centres of the University of La Frontera and has a Centre for Advanced Scientific Equipment, all of which has had a positive influence on the increase in scientific productivity and, consequently, in the impact index of these publications.
