The goal of the program is to prepare a highly qualified mass communication researcher who, based on knowledge of mass communication theories, models, main trends in the field, and research methods, will be able to create new knowledge about communication processes, mechanisms of its effectiveness in various contexts through research and analysis of research results and patterns, which will have both scientific and practical application value. The goal of the program is also to develop in the graduate, on the one hand, the ability to plan and conduct lecture courses, and on the other hand, the skills to independently plan and conduct research, which serves to promote liberal-humanistic values and the principles of a democratic society in mass communications.
A Doctor of Mass Communications will be able to find employment in research and scientific institutions and organizations, state and private agencies, and higher educational institutions in academic and research positions.

The doctoral program will admit candidates with a master's degree or equivalent in mass communication, public relations and/or business administration who can provide a document proving their English language proficiency at least at the B2 (Intermediate) level (an international certificate confirming English language proficiency; or a certificate issued by the National Center for Assessment and Examinations - Certus; or a diploma/supplement or certificate confirming completion of an English-language bachelor's or master's program; or an internal university exam in English) and a research concept.
