Designed to meet the needs of an expanding sports fisheries market, as well as the worldwide aquaculture industry, this programme will give you the necessary scientific knowledge, managerial skills and analytical capabilities for a successful career. From the outset you will build on practical experiences and gain an insight into the importance of the sport fishery and aquaculture sectors for food production and sustainability. You will take a 'hands on' approach and learn both the theory and practical skills. This aims to equip students with the expertise to effectively manage sport fisheries and aquaculture systems. The College boasts an impressive range of resources to support the degree programme, including a modern hatchery for cyprinid and other warm water species producing over a million fry per year, plus a College owned fish farm and lakes complex. At the same time as experiencing the commerciality of these businesses, students annually work on up to 100,000 fish, which are grown on both for the College owned fish farm complex and sold commercially into the aquatics trade for restocking.
