Forensic scientists utilise skills from a wide range of academic disciplines. This programme's regular laboratory sessions, practical scenarios in our mock crime scenes and lectures from experts in their field give an insight into the fascinating world of present day forensic science. Students can also become members of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences and be invited to attend the society's regular seminars across the country. The criminology courses introduce the more social aspects of forensic science and the relationship between crime and society. Students are also exposed to other aspects such as crime scene investigation and presenting evidence in a legal setting.

The university provides approximately 2,300 places in halls of residence on or near to the main campuses. Types of accommodation vary from single student bedrooms with or without en-suite, to self-contained studio apartments.
