The leisure and recreational sport management specialization prepares students for positions in public and private recreation and sport management. Students typically find employment in intercollegiate athletics administration, campus and community recreation programs, and professional sports front offices. Other possible careers paths include interscholastic athletics administration, international sports management, sport marketing and sponsorship, commercial recreation management, and coaching. The Master of Arts program in leisure studies requires a minimum of 33 s.h. of graduate credit with thesis or 36 s.h. of graduate credit without thesis. Students choose one of two specialization areas leisure and recreational sport management or therapeutic recreation and must satisfy the prerequisites required for their areas. Work for each specialization area includes core requirements and area courses.
