The Degree Course in Humanities provides a uniform coverage of the scientific-disciplinary sectors in Humanities through a series of compulsory basic subjects allowing students to acquire a solid knowledge background and advanced competences in Italian Language and Literature, Linguistics and Glottology, Latin Literature, History (Greek, Roman, Medieval, Modern and Contemporary History) and Geography. Besides this basic common programme, covering 90 credits out of 180, students can choose between a modern curriculum and a classic/archaeological curriculum. The former includes compulsory disciplines concerning Romance philology and historical-artistic or musicological studies; the latter, instead, focuses on Greek literature and classic archaeology.

The course also offers students the possibility to choose elective subjects to further enhance their preparation and even pursue their studies according to their interests and objectives. They can choose among classic linguistic and philological disciplines, Italian and Romance philology and literature, language teaching and theory of literature, librarianship, philosophical, historical-philosophical and socio-political disciplines. The course also includes English or French language proficiency (level B1), 150 hours of professional internship and 12 credits in elective subjects; at the end, during the final examination, the student will present and discuss his/her thesis for graduation. Thanks to the knowledge and competences acquired in this course, students will be able to find jobs and professional activities in specific working sectors (as specified in the course presentation) or to pursue their studies in a Second Cycle Degree Course in Humanities. The teaching activities of the course in Humanities are organised in two semesters and include lectures, workshops, laboratories and seminars.

Some subjects of the course programme include “blended” teaching modality which integrates classroom lectures with distance learning. In particular, the course uses a specific multimedia platform where professors can upload e-learning materials and manage teaching activities, both during classroom lectures or for distance learning.

Such activities (carried out in different modalities according to the discipline chosen) include: videoconference lessons recorded and archived for distance learning; multimedia lessons realised with the innovative tools provided by the distance learning platform, for example video-recorded lectures or seminars, advanced distance learning tools (interactive lessons, SCORM packages with multiple teaching contents, etc.), interactive activities to be done with students, self-assessment and self-learning tests, etc.; interactive communication systems for teachers (forums for thematic debates, constant communication flows between professors and students, etc.); and on-line office hours.

The course programme will be carried out both through classroom lectures (100 % of the whole amount of hours) and through e-learning modality (for not less than 30% of the total amount of hours). The course also includes a learning and technological tutorial service.
