The Ancient Greek and Roman worlds offer a wealth of fascinating areas of study, including history, literature, classical archaeology and philosophy. Greek and Latin language and literature are the primary, but not exclusive, focus of this programme, though students will also study other aspects of the classical world. Classics students must have at least introductory-level knowledge of either Greek or Latin. On the programme, they will further develop their skills in those languages at a range of levels, from beginner to advanced. Students will also study at least one module on the culture or history of Greek and Roman societies across the Mediterranean and Near East, from the archaic period to the Roman imperial period, or on the reception of classical culture in later periods of history.
