The family and consumer science program is designed to prepare students for a variety of public and private organizations related to dietetics, financial literacy, family services, hospitality management, textiles and apparel, and merchandising. The school of family and consumer sciences is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. The school prepares students to improve the global society through its life span perspective with an applied integrative focus on individual and family development, nutrition and health, consumer studies, merchandising, apparel and textile design and hospitality management. The undergraduate dietetic program is granted accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Successful completion of this program is an early step in becoming a registered dietitian. Upon completion, students will be qualified to apply for a post-baccalaureaute Dietetic Internship (DI). Completion of the DI enables students to take the registration exam for dietitians. It provides students with the knowledge and practical hands- on experience to prepare students to be competitive in the workplace.
