This is a diverse major that offers something for everyone, with students having the opportunity to study fascinating and relevant subjects such as American foreign policy, Middle East politics, African politics, political parties, interest groups, civil liberties, the American presidency, environmental politics/policy and human resource management. Political science majors take a series of foundation courses to prepare them for advanced courses and for conducting research. Majors take courses from each of the primary fields in political science: international relations; comparative politics; American politics, institutions, and policies; public administration; public law; and political theory. Political science graduates do well on the job market, with a degree that has the needed flexibility and skills for a rapidly and ever-changing economy. Political scientists study the origin, development, and operation of political systems. They research political ideas and analyze governments, policies, political trends, and related issues. Political Scientists are employed by private companies, and at all levels of government, including international relations.

Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. Other English language requirements: A score of 500 in paper based of the TOEFL examination; A minimum score of at least 69 on the English Proficiency Test administered by the English Language Institute of the University of Michigan (MELAB).
