The Master of Science in nutrition and dietetics is designed to equip graduates to work effectively in a variety of settings utilizing clinical, food service/management and/or community dietetics competencies. The 1280-hour internship builds on graduate academic courses. The program features a Nutrition Education Emphasis. The program requirements are, FCS core 6 semester hours are: FCS 5460 - current issues and trends and FCS 5900 - research methods in family and consumer sciences. Dietetics core 12 semester hours are: FCS 5150 - medical nutrition therapy, FCS 5153 - nutrition in the life cycle, FCS 5155 - principles of nutrition education, FCS 5152 - readings in nutrition research, FCS 5154 - medical nutrition therapy and FCS 5156 - nutrition services management. Internship 12 semester hours: FCS 5981 - dietetic internship, FCS 5982 - Dietetic Internship, FCS 5983 - dietetic internship and FCS 5984 - dietetic internship. Electives 6-8 semester hours, Non-thesis: 8 semester hours? electives and Thesis: 3 semester hour?s thesis plus 3 semester hours elective, such as independent study, statistics, additional thesis hours or a course.
