The teacher licensure option is for those who wish to become public or private school music teachers. Teacher licensure concentrations share the music core and professional course sequence as offered through the college of education and professional studies. Electives are selected from child development, art, dance, theater and children's literature. Vocal and piano skills are developed. Achievement of Junior Standing is required. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. Other English language requirements: A score of 500 in paper based of the TOEFL examination; A minimum score of at least 69 on the English Proficiency Test administered by the English Language Institute of the University of Michigan (MELAB).
