Biology is the study of plants, animals and the diversity of life in an evolutionary context. Students will learn how organisms interact, how genes are inherited, how creatures evolve and much more. On this major, students will be exposed to the central aspects of Biology including: Form and Function; Cell and Molecular Biology; Genetics; Evolution; Biodiversity; Systematics; Ecology and Environmental Biology. There are four areas of concentration in which students may further their study including: Animal Sciences; Biodiversity & Conservation; Plant Sciences; Neuroscience. An overall average of at least 70% in all biology courses taken in the fourth year must also be maintained. Accumulative average of 70% in Biology courses is required in both the major and concentration. Students are encouraged to select elective courses that are congruent with one of the following two lists: (a) Cell and Molecular Biology, (b) Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Biology.
