General Arts program has fifteen departments, within the Faculty of Social Science & Humanities. The degree is aimed particularly at the mature student. The History department at Lakehead aims to acquaint students with various approaches to the study of History and provide them with the skills to analyze any issue within its historical context. Geographically the courses encompass North America, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, South Asia, and the Circumpolar World. The programs are designed to afford an opportunity to become involved in the process of creating a shared understanding of past events and to pursue areas of history relevant to their own concerns.
