The Honours Bachelor of Education (Indigenous Teacher Education) Primary/Junior program prepares people of Aboriginal descent to become teachers as well as community leaders. Lakehead uses in-class and experiential teaching methods to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary to meet the educational and cultural needs of Indigenous youth. This five-year degree program prepares students to teach in the Primary/Junior level (Kindergarten to Grade 6). Upon completion of this HBEd (Indigenous Teacher Education) P/J program, graduates will be recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) for certification to teach in Ontario schools.
