Anthropology studies humans, past and present. Anthropology students will have the opportunity to study everything from stone artifacts and skeletal remains, to a community's economic structure and unique dialect. The Department of Anthropology has four distinct sub-disciplines with many different topics to explore in each: Archaeology; Bioanthropology; Linguistics; Socio-Cultural Anthropology. Students will have the chance to go for a field school over the summer to gain hands-on training in archaeological excavation, laboratory analysis, material culture identification and mapping. These field schools typically take place in Northwestern Ontario, however Lakehead has partnerships with organizations in Croatia, Israel and Italy. The HBA/BEd (Anthropology major) is a six-year program. Prior to Entry into the 2-Year Professional Program, students must meet and complete requirements of the partnering Bachelor degree program including all Pre-Professional Program Education requirements.
