As human interference with the environment continues to grow, and the level of interest and investigation increases, it has become abundantly clear that environmental issues are essentially multidisciplinary in nature. Environmental studies considers socio-economic, cultural and political actions and consequences in addition to scientific analysis. Students will gain the background to understand and evaluate environmental issues and solutions from a multitude of perspectives. They will also gain the business skills, scientific expertise and practical experience needed to solve modern environmental and sustainability challenges. All programs have both a science and a social sciences/humanities component. The program requirements for the first three years are the same as for the HBES (Geography Major) program; however, in order to remain in the program, students must maintain at least an overall 60% average in the major.
