Indigenous Learning is the study of Indigenous history, culture and values and strives to increase awareness/appreciation of the life experience of Indigenous Peoples with a view to creating an environment of understanding and trust amongst all Peoples. This program will examine societal structures and the ways the Indigenous population relates to mainstream populations in Canada. This program focuses on the current reality of Aboriginal Peoples as opposed to the traditional, anthropological approach. Students will learn about archival research, census data analysis, cultural awareness, government record analysis, critical thinking skills, and written and oral testimony and communications. Students with a completed two-year Aboriginal Community Advocacy Diploma and a 70% average will be eligible to enrol in this transfer pathway. Students must complete the following courses:
