Our Creative Writing Masters degree consists of four core modules and a Major Project. The core modules invite you to consider what it means to write novels and to be a writer, and to develop your writerly identity and presentational skills through consideration of form and structure across multiple genres.

There are additionally two workshop-based modules that combine exercises to sharpen your technique with practical advice and discussion of example texts.

The Masters Major Project will give you the opportunity to develop a piece of writing in depth, alongside a critical commentary.

The work might be part of a longer fiction project such as a novel or screenplay, or a collection of short stories or poems. This is an opportunity to showcase your work and consider how to present it to agents and publishers.

Modules are subject to change and availability.

You will show your progress on the course through a mix of essays, your own writing samples, and critical reflections on your work.

The major project at the end of the course will allow you to submit up to 15,000 words of your own writing project, including a critical commentary.
