Extend your knowledge and develop the skills and expertise you need to provide a high level of clinical autonomy in advanced clinical practice.

As a healthcare professional, studying our MSc Advanced Practice (Clinical) will enable you to expand your scope of practice.

Our postgraduate course will take you through the four pillars of advanced practice. You’ll explore clinical practice, education, research and leadership and learn how to apply these to a higher level of contemporary and autonomous clinical practice in your field, such as nursing, allied health and pharmacy.

Alongside this, you’ll transform your existing academic qualifications into a Masters degree accredited by Health Education England’s Centre for Advancing Practice.

Clinical practice at an advanced level is a demanding and challenging role.

Study part-time in Cambridge, Chelmsford or Peterborough and learn alongside other ARU students with a particular interest in your chosen area of advanced practice. It’s a great opportunity to learn from each other, both in the classroom and online.

Together, you’ll explore and apply the current policies, laws and procedures that apply to caring for patients at this advanced level.

We’ll encourage you to delve into all areas of your chosen field to extend your knowledge as much as possible. You’ll strengthen your leadership and clinical decision-making skills, as well as your ability to research, making effective use of evidence to support clinical practice.

Some of the modules on Advanced Practice (Clinical) can be studied as standalone CPD:

  • Pathophysiology for Advanced Practice
  • Advanced Skills in Clinical Assessment
  • Advanced Non-Medical Prescribing (V300)

Please note ARU’s MSc Advanced Practice (Clinical) is open to applicants currently working in an appropriate role in within the field of advanced practice in the UK and must be recommended to take the course by your manager. You’ll need a designated clinical facilitator for the duration of your course, for example a doctor or a qualified advanced practitioner.
