You’ll study in Cambridge in our specialist computer labs, where we’ll introduce you to advanced information and technology practices and systems.
With a focus throughout the course on programming, networking, hardware and analysis you’ll be able to put your new skills into practice with confidence. You’ll also discover Cambridge offers plenty of opportunities to gain relevant work experience.
You can choose to study full-time or part-time to ensure our postgraduate course fits into your work and home life.
Is a conversion course for me?
While this is a conversion course you should have some previous experience installing/uninstalling computer programmes, using a computer keyboard to create and write files using a word processor, and using a browser to search the internet.
For programming work outside of scheduled class time you should buy, or have access to a Windows laptop/desktop with a minimum specification of 250Gb hard drive, CPU speed of 1.8 GHz quad-core or equivalent, 4Gb of RAM, and wireless connectivity.
We recommend installing Microsoft Visual Studio Community (downloadable from the MS Visual Studio website) to self-evaluate whether or not the subject and course is appropriate for you. This is free for personal, non-commercial/educational use, though when the trial period ends, you'll need to register (still free).
On installation, choose to install the '.NET desktop development'. Once installed, on starting Visual Studio create a New Project choosing 'C# Console App (.NET framework)' and try researching, developing and running a simple 'Hello World' programme. It is not a requirement to complete this activity but nevertheless is good preparation for the course.

A First Degree, with Honours in a non-computer science related discipline and at a minimum final classification of Lower Second (2:2). Some basic computer literacy is expected.
If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
