The Ph.D English programme of our Department has two broad areas of specialisation: Language and Literature. For the language option, students are free to choose a specific area of specialisation from arrays of scientific domains such as pragmatics, semantics, phonology, morphology, syntax and digital communication. Under the literature option, interested students are expected to specialise in an area chosen from African literature, English literature, American literature, Caribbean literature etc.

To qualify for admission to the Ph.D English programme of our Department, candidate must have obtained a CGPA of up to 3.50 over 5.00 (for MPhil./Ph,D) and up to 4.00 over 5.00 to be admitted to the direct Ph.D programme.
