The M.Sc Biology programme aim to produce well trained, enquiry-minded expert thinkers and entrepreneurially self-dependent scientists who will expand the frontiers of knowledge in their areas of specialization, provide solutions to societal problems and make developmental impacts on their communities. The program is also committed to create and disseminate knowledge through research and education in the theory and application of Biology, Plant Sciences, Animal Sciences, Biotechnology and Environmental Sciences to better the state and nation, and to equip our students to succeed and contribute to the society. The Philosophy of the programme is to nurture post graduate students by leveraging on sound foundational training and skills in the plant and animal sciences, applied biology, environmental biology, and biotechnology in order to become globally relevant in the industrial and academic domains. The programme is also committed to producing highly creative and innovative postgraduates that are competent enough to be self-employed in the field of Plant and Animal Sciences, Plant genetics and Genomics, Bioinformatics and Biotechnology, Biology and its allied disciplines, or in the least be immediately employable. The philosophy is also to give students opportunity to develop their intellectual capacity in the field of Pure and Applied Biology through in-depth training in theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Biology, Bioinformatics

Admission Requirements

Admission is open to candidates with a first degree in Biology, Botany, Biotechnology, Zoology or any of the biological sciences or agricultural sciences courses (B.Sc) with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from Covenant University, or any other university recognized by the Senate of Covenant University
