he Department of Architecture was established to provide training in knowledge acquisition and skill development in the Art and Science of Architecture. The Department is absolutely committed to creative “design solutions and the development of a thought-process which are tailored to meeting the socio-economic and cultural needs and aspirations of the people in a sustainable manner”. Our curriculum is focused on the development of students’ creative skills and capabilities in generating architectural solutions that are environmentally, socially, economically and culturally responsive to the desires of all categories of clients in contemporary society. This is achieved through our emphasis on problem-based learning approach, deployment of technological and analytical tools required in advancing a culturally relevant environment in particular, through inter-disciplinary approaches as well as through multi-disciplinary strategies that is the hallmark of architectural education. The department being situated in Christian Mission University is committed to the goals of learning by means of dogged scholarship, and faith as the personal appropriation of truth for godly living.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Certificate credit and passed five (5) subjects in the SSCE/GCE, O’Level / NECO/ NABTEB or its equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. The five (5) credit passes must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics and any two from the following subjects: Technical Drawing, Fine/Visual Arts/Painting and Decoration, Geography, Chemistry, Biology, Further Mathematics, Economics, Building Construction, Woodwork and Agricultural Science. The department will give preference to applicants with exposure to Technical Drawing. Candidates applying to Covenant University are required to sit for the Unified Matriculation Examination (UME) of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and attain the prescribed cut-off marks. In addition to the above, candidates must also meet the requirements of the Covenant University Scholastic Aptitude Screening (CUSAS) to qualify for admission. Candidates so admitted should commence their studies at the 100-level of the programme.
