Mass Communication started as a programme in the Department of Languages and Mass Communication at the inception of the University in October, 2002. An autonomous Department of Mass Communication was created in September 2004 and it has since then made steady progress. The Department also has more than 80% of her academic staff with a Ph.D and the remaining staff members have all reached advanced stages in their doctoral studies. The postgraduate programme started in 2004 and has graduated a number of students at both masters and Ph.D levels. The Department of Mass Communication offers, Masters, in: M.Sc Mass Communication (in any of the specialization) Apart from the mainstream programme in Mass Communication, the department runs four areas of specializations, these include: (1) Advertising and Marketing Communication (2) Broadcasting and Broadcast Journalism (3) Print and Online Journalism (4) Public Relations/Public Affairs

Admission Requirements

60+
Master of Science (M.Sc.) Candidates are required to possess at least a good Second-Class Lower (2.2,) Degree in Mass Communication/Communication Studies of Covenant University or any other recognized University approved by the Senate of this University with a minimum of 3.0 CGPA on a 5-point scale.
