The Master of Arts degree in Digital Rhetoric and Professional Writing serves both as a professional degree for student’s interested in a technical and professional writing career track and as a preparatory degree for doctoral work in rhetoric, writing, communication studies, media studies, or technical communication. The program provides students with a theoretically grounded yet practical experience in technical and professional writing, with a special focus on writing in digital environments. The program is available under either Plan A (with thesis) or Plan B (without thesis). A total of 31 credits, of which no more than 12 credits may be at the 400-level, is required for the degree under either Plan A or Plan B. The student’s program of study must be approved by the program director.
