About Nakhchivan State University
Nakhchivan State University offers 102 bachelor’s degree programs across a broad and multidisciplinary academic portfolio, including Engineering and Technology, Computer and Information Sciences, Medicine and Health Sciences, Economics and Management, Natural Sciences, Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, International Relations and Law, Architecture, Agriculture, and Arts and Music.
Bachelor’s education at NDU is designed to combine academic excellence, research-oriented learning, practical experience, internationalization, digital transformation, innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and employability . Curricula are continuously developed in response to scientific and technological advancement, international academic practices, labour-market needs, and emerging professional competencies.
International and Dual-Degree Education
Internationalization is an integral component of undergraduate education. NDU currently has three international dual-degree bachelor’s programs with universities in Hungary, Türkiye, and China:
- Computer Engineering – Nakhchivan State University & John von Neumann University, Hungary;
- Economics – Nakhchivan State University & Çankırı Karatekin University, Türkiye;
- Information Security – Nakhchivan State University & Beijing Information Science and Technology University, China.
These programs contribute to international curriculum integration, student and faculty mobility, intercultural competencies, and the international recognition of NDU’s educational portfolio.
International Academic Environment
NDU has significantly expanded the international dimension of its teaching environment. During the 2025–2026 academic year, 50 international academics are engaged at the University , including 31 newly invited international professors across seven faculties.
International academics contribute to teaching, research, academic supervision, seminars, joint scientific activities, and the development of international academic networks. Their involvement provides undergraduate students with direct exposure to international expertise and different academic and research traditions.
The University also maintains an expanding international network across Europe, Asia, and other regions and participates in international mobility, joint education, research collaboration, visiting-professor programs, conferences, summer schools, and capacity-building initiatives.
International Projects
NDU actively participates in international capacity-building and research-oriented projects, particularly under the European Union Erasmus+ Programme . Current and recent initiatives include DIRNA, ENGAGE, IQAinAR, LMQ-Santé and FTLV Qualité Santé , connecting NDU with universities and organizations from European and other partner countries.
These projects support institutional modernization, quality assurance, research capacity, innovation, digital transformation, international networking, and the professional development of academic staff and students.
Research-Oriented Undergraduate Education
Research is increasingly integrated into the undergraduate student experience. During the 2025–2026 academic year, 1,775 students were involved in 1,751 research projects , representing approximately 24.2% of full-time students .
Undergraduate students participate in scientific conferences, faculty research groups, laboratory activities, interdisciplinary projects, innovation competitions, start-up initiatives, and international research activities. Student research has also resulted in publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science .
This model enables students to develop research, analytical, problem-solving, academic writing, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making competencies before entering postgraduate education or professional careers.
Research and Innovation Environment
Undergraduate education benefits from NDU’s rapidly developing institutional research ecosystem. In 2025, more than 2,000 scientific articles were published by the University’s academic community, including more than 1,300 in international publications and over 300 in journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science .
The University's 2025 research portfolio included publications in high-impact journals, including 50 Q1, 71 Q2, 60 Q3 and 16 Q4 publications .
Students therefore study within an increasingly research-intensive academic environment and have opportunities to interact with active researchers, international professors, laboratories, research centres, and interdisciplinary research groups.
NDU has also expanded access to major international academic resources and databases, strengthening the research environment available to both academics and students.
Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship
Technology and innovation are integrated into the undergraduate learning environment through specialized laboratories, research centres, the University’s Technology Park, robotics and STEAM facilities, clinical and simulation infrastructure, and digitally supported education.
Students are encouraged to transform academic and research ideas into practical solutions, innovation projects and start-ups. In 2025, NDU student start-up teams achieved recognition in national competitions, with successful teams progressing to international incubation opportunities.
Particular emphasis is placed on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, information security, digital technologies, biotechnology, data-driven decision-making, green technologies, and sustainable development .
Employability and Employer Engagement
Graduate employability represents an important dimension of NDU’s undergraduate education strategy. Academic programs are developed and reviewed with consideration of labour-market transformation, employer expectations, technological change, and emerging professional competencies.
Cooperation with employers and external stakeholders contributes to internships, professional practice, applied projects, career development, entrepreneurship, guest lectures, curriculum development, and graduate recruitment .
