A program in linguistics is usually built around several key aspects that allow for a comprehensive study of the Chinese language and its role in culture and society.

The Chinese language is regarded not only as a means of communication but also as a key to understanding mentality and cultural values. The study of the history of the language — from ancient writing systems to modern Chinese — makes it possible to trace the patterns of its development and transformation.

Literature, idiomatic expressions, artistic texts, as well as religious and philosophical teachings form the basis for exploring the worldview and cultural identity of the Chinese people. In addition, special attention is given to sociolinguistic and pragmatic aspects of the language, which help to reveal its connection with economics, politics, social processes, and international relations.

Thus, graduates who receive linguistic training acquire not only knowledge of the language but also the ability to analyze it as a system that reflects the culture, history, and modern discourse of China, enabling them to confidently navigate their future professional activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learning the Chinese language can indeed be challenging, but it is well worth the effort. What difficulties do those who begin studying it encounter? There are several main points typically highlighted: - Tones: Chinese is a tonal language, which can be a real challenge for those accustomed to languages where tone does not change a word's meaning; - Characters: Instead of an alphabet, Chinese uses characters. Memorizing and writing them correctly is a separate task in itself; - Grammar: Chinese grammar can be quite unfamiliar to us. However, to overcome these difficulties, the Kyrgyz-Chinese Faculty has created all the necessary conditions, namely: - Qualified instructors: These are specialists with an excellent command of the language and culture; - Modern technical resources: Students have access to new books, audio and video resources, and classrooms equipped with modern technology; - A language-rich environment: Students are given the opportunity to practice the language.
Linguistics specialists, especially those specializing in Chinese, can work in a wide variety of fields: Business and commerce – linguists are in demand as translators and intercultural communication consultants; Government and diplomacy – Chinese language specialists are essential for effective international negotiations and diplomatic contacts; Education and science – graduates can become Chinese language teachers or linguistic researchers; Culture and media – translators, journalists, localization specialists, and intercultural relations specialists are in demand.
The cost of tuition is 40,000 KGS per year
To participate in academic mobility programs at Chinese universities, students must: • study at the Kyrgyz-Chinese Faculty; • successfully pass the HSK Level 3-4 exams; • prepare and submit the required documents in a timely manner.
