Learning the Chinese language can indeed be challenging, but it is well worth the effort. What difficulties do those who begin studying it encounter?
There are several main points typically highlighted:
- Tones: Chinese is a tonal language, which can be a real challenge for those accustomed to languages where tone does not change a word's meaning;
- Characters: Instead of an alphabet, Chinese uses characters. Memorizing and writing them correctly is a separate task in itself;
- Grammar: Chinese grammar can be quite unfamiliar to us.
However, to overcome these difficulties, the Kyrgyz-Chinese Faculty has created all the necessary conditions, namely:
- Qualified instructors: These are specialists with an excellent command of the language and culture;
- Modern technical resources: Students have access to new books, audio and video resources, and classrooms equipped with modern technology;
- A language-rich environment: Students are given the opportunity to practice the language.
Linguistics specialists, especially those specializing in Chinese, can work in a wide variety of fields:
Business and commerce – linguists are in demand as translators and intercultural communication consultants;
Government and diplomacy – Chinese language specialists are essential for effective international negotiations and diplomatic contacts;
Education and science – graduates can become Chinese language teachers or linguistic researchers;
Culture and media – translators, journalists, localization specialists, and intercultural relations specialists are in demand.
The cost of tuition is 40,000 KGS per year
To participate in academic mobility programs at Chinese universities, students must:
• study at the Kyrgyz-Chinese Faculty;
• successfully pass the HSK Level 3-4 exams;
• prepare and submit the required documents in a timely manner.
After selection by a Chinese university, students receive an official invitation. Studies at Chinese universities last one or two semesters. Students receive free tuition, dormitory accommodation, and a monthly stipend of approximately 30,000 KGS
