Frequently Asked Questions

ENT is not just ears, noses, and throats. It includes major surgeries for thyroid and parathyroid glands, salivary glands, and cancers of the mouth, throat, and larynx. It is one of the most anatomically dense surgical fields.
While sometimes perceived as "minor" because of many outpatient procedures, ENT involves highly complex surgeries. Procedures like cochlear implants, skull-base tumor removals, and neck dissections are major, high-stakes operations requiring hours of precision.
About 50/50. Many ENT conditions (like allergies, vertigo, and infections) are managed medically in an OPD setting. However, when medicine fails, ENT offers a wide array of surgical interventions, giving you the best of both worlds.
Yes. ENT is a technology-heavy branch. You will master the use of endoscopes, operating microscopes, surgical lasers, and even robotic systems (TORS - Transoral Robotic Surgery).
ENT has specific, high-intensity emergencies. The most common are foreign body removals (coins in the throat or beads in the ear), epistaxis (severe nosebleeds), and airway management (performing emergency tracheostomies for patients who can't breathe).
