The B.Sc. OTT is a 3.5-year undergraduate program (3 years of academics + 6 months of mandatory internship) designed to train allied health professionals in the management of operation theatres, surgical instrumentation, and anesthesia assistance.

  • Course Overview:

    • Focus: The curriculum covers the ethics of the operating room, infection control, anesthesia technology, and surgical procedures. Students learn to assist surgeons and anesthesiologists before, during, and after surgery.

    • Core Responsibilities: Training focuses on preparing the OT (fumigation/sterilization), maintaining anesthesia workstations, managing surgical instruments, and ensuring patient safety during operations.

  • Training Infrastructure:

    • Operation Theatres: Students gain extensive practical exposure in the hospital's 20 Operation Theatres (13 Major & 7 Minor), including specialized suites for Neurosurgery, Cardiac Surgery, and Trauma.

    • CSSD Training: A critical part of the course involves the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), where students learn the protocols for autoclaving, EtO sterilization, and maintaining sterility of surgical sets.

    • Advanced Equipment: Training includes handling high-end anesthesia workstations, multipara monitors, C-Arm machines (fluoroscopy), and Laparoscopic towers.

  • Eligibility:

    • 10+2 (Intermediate) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) or Mathematics (PCM) with recognized passing marks.

    • Lateral Entry: Candidates with a Diploma in OT Technician can often apply for direct admission into the 2nd year.

  • Career Scope:

    • Graduates can work as OT Technologists, Anesthesia Technicians, or CSSD Managers in multi-specialty hospitals and trauma centers.
