The B.Sc. MLT is a 3.5-year undergraduate program (3 years academic + 6 months compulsory internship) designed to train professionals in the performance and management of clinical laboratory tests. The course is offered by the Department of Paramedical Sciences and is approved by the U.P. State Medical Faculty.
Curriculum & Training:
Core Subjects: The syllabus covers Human Anatomy, Physiology, General Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Histopathology, and Molecular Cell Biology.
Advanced Skills: Students learn advanced diagnostic techniques including Immunopathology, Parasitology, and Molecular Diagnostics in their final year.
Internship (6 Months): The final semester involves a mandatory rotating internship across four key laboratories: Histopathology & Cytology, Hematology, Clinical Biochemistry, and Microbiology (1.5 months each), ensuring holistic practical competence.
Clinical Exposure: Training is conducted at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti Hospital, utilizing its NABL-accredited Central Clinical Laboratory and specialized research labs. Students work with modern automated analyzers and gain experience in quality control and lab management.
Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (PCBE) with at least 45% marks .
Lateral Entry: Students with a Diploma in MLT (2 years after 12th or 3 years after 10th) can be admitted directly to the 2nd year .
Career Scope: Graduates are qualified to work as Medical Laboratory Technologists, Lab Managers, or Quality Control Officers in hospitals, diagnostic centers, and research institutes.
