The program is committed to prepare specialized geographical carders who are able to understand environmental problems and scientifically and educationally qualified and adhere to the ethics and principles of the teaching mission.
Mission
1. Training the students to know the nature of geographical phenomena in terms of their characteristics and spatial variation moreover interpret them regarding the spatial relationships with other geographical phenomena.
2. Enable the students to understand natural and human resources also to be able to how to explain them optimally and efficiently.
3. Develop the students’ scientific skills in a way that enables them to draw, read, present maps, aerial and satellite images, and techniques (geographic information systems and remote sensing) in a way that serves geographic studies.
4. Develop the concepts of the geographic thought among students by understanding the new changes in the political map of the world and their relationship to the Arab world and our homeland (Libya)
Objectives
1. Prepare teachers who are specialized in geography. Also, professionally and educationally qualified to teach.
2. Expand the students’ sensory, intellectual and scientific awareness of all geographical specialization subjects to qualify them for teaching and scientific research in the institutions of the Ministry of Education and other ministries that can benefit from scientific expertise in their field for the department’s outputs.
3. Enable students to rely in their practical lives on applying scientific methods in dealing with problems and life situations by relying on theoretical and field studies in analysis and study, especially in the field and research studies that serve for the society benefits.
4. Prepare and develop the scientific sense of some distinguished students to keep pace with their scientific studies, including submitting them to postgraduate studies through encouraging them to be the basic basis for providing the academic institutions with the expertise in their various fields and according to their scientific specializations
