The Master in Film Studies program is designed to cultivate professionals who can critically analyze, produce, and assess films and scripts by comprehending the social, economic, and cultural impacts of audiovisual art, utilizing applied research methods in creation, and understanding cinematic technique and theory. The goal is to enhance our nation's media industries in a manner that is critical, innovative, and socially equitable. Specific objectives include: crafting films and scripts that authentically express ideas driving their creation through inventive research, artistic exploration, and collaborative endeavors; utilizing diverse expressive techniques in directing, producing, screenwriting, editing, and sound design, while adhering to industry-recognized quality standards; critically evaluating audiovisual works using innovative theoretical and methodological perspectives drawn from the academic discipline of film studies; AND developing film production projects that effectively respond to the challenges of the evolving media landscape with a focus on sustainability and social justice.
