At our department, we cultivate professionals of exceptional academic caliber who engage critically, creatively, and responsibly in the analysis and interpretation of literary works, informed by a deep understanding of our society's cultural and social values. Rooted in three core pillars: Literary criticism and theory; Literary models; and Latin American and Mexican literature. Our program offers annual openings in August. Upon graduation, our alumni demonstrate: Proficiency in comprehensive and critical reading across literary genres; Skill in crafting well-structured, precise, and expressive verbal (oral or written) compositions; Ability to integrate knowledge, reflection, and sensitivity into texts exploring literary and cultural themes; and Capacity to foster skill and knowledge development among pre-university student groups.

 To be admitted into a graduate program, students must pass the Exam III (CENEVAL), which is an exam in Spanish required for admission. The exam may be taken at the IBERO or at CENEVAL centers throughout Mexico.

 International students who do not live in Mexico may take the exam after their arrival at the university on the first date the exam is offered at the university.
