Designed for leaders and future leaders of education, it enhances your knowledge and practical skills and deepens your understanding of educational theory and research. This program is designed to develop and support the careers of trained teachers who are teaching professionals, educational administrators, researchers and policymakers. You can choose to complete your course with units of study that suit your interests from our field offerings, including educational management and leadership, educational psychology, international education, special and inclusive education, sports coaching, and teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). We offer programs in both Semester One and Semester Two. The course does not lead to a professional teaching qualification. Admission to candidature for the Master of Education requires: a Bachelor of Education from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies, or professional experience equivalent to one year full-time in a field considered by the School to be appropriate to the program of study; or a bachelor's degree and either the Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and either the completion of postgraduate studies in Education, or professional experience equivalent to two years full-time in a field considered by the School to be appropriate to the program of study. If you do not meet the requirements listed above for direct entry to the Master’s degree, you may be able to enter via a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in the same subject area and upgrade to the Master’s after successful completion of the shorter course.
