Admission to this course is on the basis of the following criteria:

  • A secondary education qualification such as the NSW Higher School Certificate (including national and international equivalents). As a guide, for 2026 entry a minimum ATAR of 99.7 or equivalent will be required to be considered for domestic applicants.
  • Admission pathways are open to domestic applicants on the basis of equity or other adjustment factors, including for Regional and Remote Entry Scheme or MySydney applicants (a minimum ATAR of 99 to be considered) and Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander applicants (a minimum ATAR of 85 to be considered). Eligible applicants will be invited to attend the assessment process after ATAR (or other secondary education qualification) results are released. 
  • An assessment process including a written assessment followed by a panel discussion. Eligible domestic applicants will be required to attend the assessment in-person at the University; eligible international applicants will be required to attend the assessment online. 

Eligibility

  • You are only eligible for admission to the first available course intake following receipt of your final results. If your results are not available in time to be considered for the 2026 intake (ie prior to the issue of invitations to the January 2026 assessment), you may be eligible to apply for the 2027 intake.
  • Domestic students studying in Australia and New Zealand are eligible for admission to the first available course intake following receipt of your final results released between December 2025 to January 2026.
  • Domestic students studying overseas shall seek advice from the admissions office.
  • Assessment dates and assessment modes (ie in-person or online) are not negotiable and eligible candidates must attend the first assessment day after the release of their ATAR (or other secondary education qualification) results.  
  • You must meet the ATAR (or equivalent) to be invited to attend the assessment day. 
  • Applicants may submit only one application to this program.

You are expected to have studied the following subjects in high school to succeed in this course:

  • Mathematics Advanced
