Through practical and industry experiences, this program develops the comprehensive ability to plan, design and test structures within the built and natural environments. Students will learn from leading experts about how to manage the design and construction of crucial modern infrastructure, including buildings, roads, transport and railways, bridges, tunnels, dams and ports, as well as systems for managing water, irrigation, sewage and floodwaters. Complementing this technical knowledge will be a range of professional skills in management, finance and problem solving. Students will study a series of core units as you master the foundations of civil engineering, before specialising in an optional major. In the second year, a surveying camp will allow students to develop their technical skills in a practical, team-based environment. In the third year a 12-week internship will provide students with invaluable industry experience and the opportunity to forge industry connections. In the fourth year, students will undertake further specialised civil engineering subjects and complete an embedded honours thesis. It enables students to design a research project in an area that interests them.
