Admission Requirements
- A Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours or equivalent, such as a masters degree which is recognised by the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board (relevant professional experience in the relevant stream is desirable).
- Full registration, or Registration with conditions, or Limited Registration with the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board for the entire duration of the candidature.
- Admission to candidature will be conditional upon the appointment of an appropriate clinical supervisor and associate supervisor.
Merit factors and professional experience required include:
- Grade point average (GPA) or Weighted Average Mean Average (WAM) of veterinary degree (essential).
- Honours mark or equivalent (essential). Membership of Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists is equivalent to Hons I.
- ‘Accepted’ or published papers in Web of Knowledge listed journals or respected open access on-line journals (not essential, but desirable).
- Presentations/abstracts at national and international veterinary conferences (not essential, but desirable).
- Other esteem factors e.g. awards, veterinary positions held since graduation (not essential, but desirable).
- A minimum experience of a one year rotating internship or equivalent practice experience (essential).
- Two referees’ reports (essential).
Applications will be ranked (in the same manner as for all USYD applicants applying for Australian Postgraduate Awards) within each of the disciplines seeking residents at that time.
The highest ranked applicants within each of the disciplines seeking residents at that time, will be requested to attend an interview with the Faculty Academics that oversee this program. Final selection will be made after the interview.
