Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication - Technical and Science Communication Concentration

The ability to communicate clearly and with relevant purpose is an invaluable skill, especially in today’s ever-changing media landscape. As a Communication major, you’ll learn how to package a message in a variety of formats and for any audience. You’ll gain broad theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on experience as you works toward a future in public relations, journalism, technical editing, and countless other areas where communication skills are essential. The major also draws upon other disciplines in the social sciences to strengthen your sensitivity to different experiences and viewpoints, thus preparing you to succeed in a culturally diverse world, where ideas and technology change constantly. In the Technical and Science Communication concentration, students learn to communicate scientific and technical information to various audiences. The program combines courses that develop communication skills with courses that enhance understanding of science and technology. Graduates find work in a wide range of areas, including technical writing for software or hardware products, proposal and grant writing, and writing in the fields of health, medicine, pharmaceuticals or science.
