Biomedical informatics is a new interdisciplinary field, and therefore aims to cultivate students' interdisciplinary learning and research abilities. The master's program emphasizes practical application, while the doctoral program emphasizes forward-looking perspectives.
Our curriculum is designed to align with our educational goals and objectives. To ensure the practical application of our master's programs, we have specially arranged summer internships, which is one of our distinctive features. Furthermore, in response to economic development trends, our teaching development goals and characteristics, in addition to achieving a high degree of integration of teaching resources and faculty, enable us to efficiently enhance the training and development of diverse R&D professionals. The curriculum is diverse and varied, yet systematically planned, and the design emphasizes an "international" perspective.
In addition to foundational courses that cultivate core competencies, the curriculum design covers three major fields: information technology, bioinformatics, and medical resources. This not only broadens students' learning horizons and integrates teaching resources but also addresses interdisciplinary and integrative goals, providing students with opportunities to strengthen their learning in secondary professional areas. It balances basic and practical needs, especially emphasizing relevant practical courses to meet the needs of potential industries after graduation. The curriculum is structured in a progressive manner across these three categories, allowing students to learn step-by-step. This clear curriculum plan benefits students' learning and increases their future development opportunities and choices.
The mission of institute which offers PhD in Biomedical Informatics is to cultivate talents across the fields of biomedicine, information, mathematics and engineering, integrate medical information and biological information, and ultimately achieve the goal of improving human health. Students will study biological information at the molecular and cellular levels, connecting to tissue, organ, individual, and even group levels. In terms of health information, because of the addition of the field of bioinformatics, diseases can be understood by molecular mechanisms. The curriculum design of the institute is in line with the educational goals and objectives of the institute. In order to achieve the purpose of emphasizing practicality in the master class, summer internships are specially arranged.
