Founded in 1985, this institute originally only offered a master’s degree program. In 1996, the PhD degree program was launched. Alumni serve across a wide range of key posts in both local and international public health administrative organizations, medical institutions, and academic institutions. It is a public health academic institution with a history and tradition of excellence in Taiwan.
Due to various changes and developments in society, the topic of public health has expanded from disease prevention to health promotion, while interventions have been extended from infection control to community reform and policy lobbying. To match the increasing diversity in this domain, the course framework of our institute consists of four major fields: epidemiology, biostatistics, law and policy, and preventive medicine. By providing comprehensive training, we hope to cultivate professional public health talents to serve society and promote the development of public health in Taiwan.
This institute employs a total of 69 teachers, including 18 full-time teachers, 21 co-employed teachers, and 30 part-time teachers. Their professions include public health, epidemiology, community medicine, preventive medicine, health statistics, health administration, health insurance, medical law and policy, and international health. In addition to unique talents with professional expertise in law, politics, and economics, the institute features strong interdisciplinary teams for teaching and research.
