The College of Engineering at National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University established several in-service master's programs in response to the Ministry of Education's efforts to promote continuing education. In 1999, the "Degree Program of Industrial Safety and Risk Management" was established, followed by the "Degree Program of Automation and Precision Engineering" in 2000, the "Degree Program of Engineering and Technology Management" in 2001, and the "Degree Program of Semiconductor Materials and Process Equipment" in 2003. These programs continuously admitted students and granted them engineering master's degrees.
The purpose of these programs is to meet the educational needs of professionals working in rapidly developing high-tech industries, such as the semiconductor industry, and those in and around the Hsinchu Science Park. They leverage the university's abundant resources in electronic-related education and research to provide a pathway for acquiring relevant theoretical knowledge. Through interactions between teaching and learning, they also acquire advanced technical knowledge, improve their professional skills, and strengthen the synergy between academia and industry. This ultimately aims to cultivate talent and enhance the level of our country's high-tech industry.
In recent years, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology have been actively promoting the "Enhancing Practical Competence Project." There is an urgent need for the re-education of professional practical engineers.
