At NCTU, Center for Teacher Education (CTE) founded in 1996 was the predecessor of the Institute of Education (IED). In both 1996 and 1997, CTE was ranked as one of the Taiwan’s top teacher-education programs by the Ministry of Education. It proves faculty excellence in improving teaching practices and achievements. With regard to the demand on developing professionals for educational and instructional research, the IED was founded in 2001. The IED at the University offers graduate study opportunities in education around Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli areas, and the Ph.D. programs were launched since 2006.
