The doctoral program at the National Yang-Ming University's Institute of Clinical Medicine was established in March 1986, and the in-service master's program was established in 1990. The first director was Professor Jiang Bining, followed by Professors Yu Jiali, Lin Xingrong, Wu Zhaoqing, Xie Shiliang, Zhou Deying, and Wang Jindian. The current director is Professor Chen Shibin.
The Institute originally recruited clinical physicians as its specific enrollment targets, providing them with opportunities for further education and research. However, in response to changing times, in order to provide an additional training channel for outstanding personnel with non-physician backgrounds, the doctoral program began to recruit non-physician students in the 2004 academic year.
In August 2008 (the first semester of the 2008 academic year), the university merged the former Institute of Tropical Medicine of Yang-Ming University into our institute for the purpose of organizational restructuring and sharing of faculty and resources. Therefore, in addition to the existing postgraduate in-service training program, our institute began to offer a postgraduate program starting from the first semester of the 2008 academic year.
