1. Development History


The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Sun Yat-sen University was established in May 2017, as one of the first engineering schools established at the university's Shenzhen campus. In September of the same year, it began enrolling undergraduate students under the Mechanics major and applied to establish an Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering major. In 2018, the Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering major was approved, and the first batch of students transferred to this major. In 2021, the Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering major was selected for the national first-class undergraduate program construction list. The related discipline of Aeronautics and Astronautics Science and Technology was approved as a first-level discipline master's program in 2018, a first-level discipline doctoral program in 2021, and a postdoctoral research station in 2023.

2. Professional Positioning

The Aerospace Engineering major, in line with the national strategy for building a strong aerospace nation in the new era, adheres to the principle of upholding integrity and innovation, actively responds to the national requirements for cultivating new engineering disciplines, and focuses on promoting talent cultivation and discipline development in areas such as space gravitational wave detection platforms, intelligent navigation technology, on-orbit service technology, new concept aircraft technology, and advanced aerospace propulsion technology.
